Prof. Zhang Jianzhong, deputy director of National Institute for Communicable Disease Control and Prevention, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (ICDC, China CDC). Former President of Chinese Society of Public Health, Chinese Medical Association (CMA). President of the Ecological Health and Human Ecology Committee, Ecological Society of China. Member of the National Expert Committee on Emergent Public Health Events. Principle investigator of State Key Laboratory for Infectious Disease Prevention and Control. Principle investigator of Collaborative Innovation Center for Diagnosis and Treatment of Infectious Diseases. Director of Department of Diagnosis, ICDC, China CDC.
As a microbiologist and epidemiologist with over 20 years’research experience, Prof. Zhang is especially expertized in infectious diseases and molecular biology. He got a PhD in Medicine from the Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Beijing, China. His research focuses on molecular pathogenicity of bacterial infections including Helicobacter, Campylobacter, Streptococcus, Staphylococcus aureus, Mycoplasma and Acinetobacter baumannii.
Prof Zhang is particularly interested in the molecular biological studies of H. pylori, including the biology, pathogenicity study, population genomics, proteomics, and antibiotic resistance of H. pylori. He has set up China H. pylori strain resource collection center (www.Hpbank.org) in 1998 and collected more than 10,000 H. pylori strains, and has published more than 300 papers.
