Xin’an Jiao

Prof. Xin’an Jiao, President of Yangzhou University, is an expert enjoying the special allowance of the State Council of China. He is the Vice Chairman of the Chinese Association of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine, member of the National Expert Committee for Animal Epidemic Prevention, and member of the National Expert Committee for Food Safety and Risk Assessment. He also serves as the Vice Chairman of Jiangsu Association of Agricultural Science Societies and the Vice Chairman of Biotechnology Association of Jiangsu Province.
Much of Prof. Jiao’s research has focused on the fields of genomics and proteomics of microbiology, prevention and control of zoonoses and food safety, novel biologics, as well as agrifood safety and quality. He has chaired over 40 projects funded by the ministries and Jiangsu provincial government and is the author of 12 monographs and textbooks on salmonellosis, microbiological food safety and quarantine. He and his team are well engaged in the study on the epidemiology of foodborne pathogens (including Salmonella spp., Campylobacter spp., Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Listeria spp., Escherichia-coli,etc) and their quantitative risk assessment, molecular and cellular pathogenesis of pathogens and their antimicrobial resistance, development of vaccine and diagnostic techniques for the zoonotic agents and infectious diseases in poultry and domestic animals. Over 350 research articles have been published in peer-reviewed journals including Nature Communication, Cell Reports, Journal of Immunology, Infection and Immunity, Biosensors & Bioelectronics, Frontiers in Immunology, etc. His research Ecological Rules of the Spread of Major Food-borne Zoonotic Pathogens and Their Control Technology won the 2nd prize for National Science and Technology Progress Award, China in 2017. His other 12 research achievements have won the 1st or 2nd prizes for Science and Technology Progress Award or Technical Innovation Award at provincial or ministerial level over the years.
